This color lithograph poster was created by Théophile Steinlen in 1896 for the Chat Noir, an artistic cabaret in Paris. Steinlen's career was launched at the Chat Noir, where he continued to make advertisements. Like Lautrec's poster Moulin Rouge: La Goulue, this poster uses dull earthy colors. Similar to Mucha and Beardsley the use of curving lines draws the viewer around the page. It's crucial to understand how graphic design was shaping during this period.
